The Marist Community

Peter Head and Brian O'Connell are Mainlanders and Geoff Morley and Michael Young are North Islanders. Geoff is a Brother and the others are Priests.

Apart from driving all over the Peninsula and Plains most days, we share the prayer, the cooking and housekeeping, and all the other day to day things involved in running a community. We get lots of visitors!

In 2002 Fr Michael Young joined the team to work in the area of Adult Faith Formation.

We think we're a pretty happy community. If you would like to know more about us or the Marists, or even if you'd like to think about joining us, give us a call! (07-868-6169)

Who are Marists?

Frenchman Jean-Claude Colin founded the Marist Fathers and Brothers.

Marists, like the Church, find their model in Mary the woman of faith. Marist spirituality is simple and modest in its expression, close to the lives of ordinary people, apostolic in character, and marked by spontaneity and joy.

The Marist Charism calls us to establish the Church where it does not exist, and to renew existing communities.
