The church of St Patrick is situated in Campbell Street, Whitianga. The parish house is at 21 Whitby Avenue. Phone 866-2189.
From this coast in 1842 the early Marist missionaries, Father Michel Borjon and Brother Deodat Villemagne, set sail to become the first pastors of Wellington. They never arrived in Wellington, for their ship went missing at sea.
